The Ring

Gone
it was, or so
I thought, as
                          laughing
he flung it
‘cross the room

Tiny
white teeth aflash
between dimples
deep as mine

Gone
it was, or so
I thought, as
                          crawling
I made my way
’round the floor

Amazed
there was not
panic, but resolution
to the loss

Gone
it was, or so
I thought, as
                          cooing
he uncurled his
baby fist

Laughing still, he held it up
and in that moment I knew

Tomorrow I can
 slip it on and be
                                  painlessly
sure that you are
                                    Gone

Nice form to this; it kept pulling me in until you slapped me so perfectly with that last stanza. I’m so glad I ran into you here. I know I’ll be back for more.

    Thank you.

David, thank you for taking the time to read and comment.

I’m glad this piece pleased you and I hope some of my others will as well.

    Blessings,
